GROWTH WITH PURPOSE
We need growth to bring upgraded and new amenities to our community. But growth shouldn’t come at the expense of Petrolia’s beautiful, friendly heritage character.
Respecting where we’ve come from.
Preparing for where we’re going.
Petrolia has something special. I believe we can grow, improve and prepare for the future without losing the friendly, neighbourly character that makes our town home.
We need growth to bring upgraded and new amenities to our community. But growth shouldn’t come at the expense of Petrolia’s beautiful, friendly heritage character.
We need safe, affordable and conveniently located housing, including consideration of appropriate higher-density options.
More programs, places and activities can create a greater sense of inclusion, belonging and community for youth and seniors.
Attract new, sustainable businesses and investment that strengthen Petrolia’s economy without unnecessarily straining taxpayers.
“Spend as though it’s coming out of your own pocket.”
Residents need improved infrastructure, amenities and services, but many families can’t afford significant increases in their tax burden. At the same time, stagnation isn’t a solution. Council needs to examine the numbers, understand the long-term consequences and make difficult choices based on Petrolia’s overall financial well-being.
I’m currently the senior on-site computer technician with Juce Computers here in Petrolia. Before that, I spent nearly 40 years managing and operating businesses in consumer electronics, including experience as a manager and franchisee.
Throughout my career I’ve been recognized for my work, including Leader’s Club honours twice. I’ve also volunteered my time with Lambton County Developmental Services, the local Lions Club and numerous community events.
Technology has changed dramatically throughout my career—and I’ve changed with it. I don’t believe respecting the past means being afraid of the future.
I believe a good councillor listens to residents, considers different perspectives and evaluates ideas on their merits—even when those ideas aren’t their own.
If elected, I will listen, endeavour to make decisions that benefit the residents of Petrolia, and make every effort to leave Petrolia better than when I began my campaign.
Whether you’d like to volunteer, help spread the word, or have a lawn sign, I’d love to hear from you.
